Tourist Visa Information
Foreigners, except Indians who intends to visit Nepal must hold valid passport or any travel document equivalent to passport issued by the Government for visiting a foreign country prior to applying for visa. Indian nationals do not require visa. However, effective from October 1, 2000 Indians traveling to Nepal by air will have to show upon arrival at entry point either a passport, voter's identity card issued by Election Commission of India, or an identity card with photograph issued by the Central or State Government of India.
1) Entry:-
No foreigner is entitled to enter into and stay in the Kingdom of Nepal without valid visa. Tourist visa can be obtained for the following duration from Royal Embassy or Consulate or other mission offices or at the following immigration office in Nepal.offices located on entry points in Nepal.

Nepal Entry visa fee has been revised effective from 17 July 2008 as follows:
Visa Facility Duration Fee
Multiple entry 15 days US$ 25 or equivalent convertible currency
Multiple entry 30 days US$ 40 or equivalent convertible currency
Multiple entry 90 days US$ 100 or equivalent convertible currency
A Nepali visa is valid for entry for three to six months from the date of issue. To obtain a visa on arrival by air in Nepal an application form must be filled and two passport size photos must be provided.If visitor wishes to leave and re-enter the country, visitor will need to pay additional fees. US $25 for Single Re-entry, US $40 for Double Re-entry and US $60 for Multiple Re-entry. If visitor leaves and wishes to Re-enter Nepal as a tourist within 150 day of the same visa year, you may pay US $50 for 30 days.
2) Tourist visa extension :-
A tourist visa can be extended upto 120days from the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu and Pokhara Immigration Office on request. Then after an additional 30 days can be extended from Department of Immigration on reasonable ground which ensures one's departure from the country within ensuring that tourist visa cannot be extended more than 150 days in one year. Every visa extension requires passport and photo.
Tourist visa extension fee and additional late fee are as follows:
a) Tourist Visa extension fee without re-entry for 30 days: US$ 30 in equivalent
Nepalese currency
b) Tourist Visa extension with multiple entry facility for 30 days: US$ 80 in
equivalent Nepalese currency. One who has previously taken multiple re-entry
facility in the same visa year will have to pay US$ 30 only. The facility will be valid for a visa year (January-December) if the visa period is valid.
c) Late fee for regularizing tourist visa
-US$ 2 in equivalent Nepalese currency per day for the first 30 days
-US$ 3 in equivalent Nepalese currency per day for the next 31 to 90 days
-US$ 5 in equivalent Nepalese currency per day for more than 90 days

3. Free exempsion of tourist visa :-
- Child below 10 yrs
- Dependence up to the age of 16 years, holding foreign passports of Nepalese parents or either of their parents being a Nepalese citizen.
- Citizen of Nepali origin, after having obtained passport for the first time from a Nepal based foreign mission, until the period of his departure to a foreign country.
- Citizens of member countries of South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) and the People’s Reppublic of China.
- Any foreigner, who has stayed at least 15 days in Nepal continuously, re-entering Nepal during same visa year.
- Any foreigner, tourist entering into Nepal, for 3 days or less.
